COVID-19
COVID-19 responses have been few in numbers luckily. In general the number of calls has remained about average for the month of April with 35. We know that some people have been hesitant to call, but if you need emergency care, please call. Our specialized personal protective equipment supply has been very consistent up until recently, mostly because we were well prepared ahead of time. We have utilized the state supply chain for some of our PPE, but that is pretty limited with their focus being ambulances and hospitals. Please keep up the good work of limiting your public exposures and following the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order.
Special events like birthday and anniversary parades are continuing so if you would like that surprise for someone, please email me at abarber@hinesburg.org or call the station and leave a message on the answering machine at 802-482-2455 and someone will contact you for the information.
Ambulance Service
Time has seemed to slip away the past few months and we are finalizing the job description for the fire department’s full-time employee, which was thankfully supported during the annual meeting last March, we hope to have it posted soon. On a related subject, Saint Michael’s Fire and Rescue has agreed to continue service after their previous deadline of June 30, 2020, extending service to June 30, 2021 with the understanding there will be a vote in November about Hinesburg Fire starting our own ambulance transport service. If the community votes to have our own service, Saint Michael’s will continue until we are operational. If the ambulance is not supported, they would end service on June 30, 2021, which would give us six months to contract at will another service.
