and Sara Lovitz, Hinesburg Nursery School Board President
Thank you to the local community for supporting our parent cooperative preschool
You may have noticed the recently expanded playground at Hinesburg Nursery School (HNS) on the corner of 116 and Silver Street, which provides our preschool children with more space to run and play outdoors during the school day. It also provides a safe, fenced-in space for local children, ages 0-5, when HNS is not in session. We love seeing young children and their families enjoying this community resource.
The recent fence expansion was completed by White’s Fence in August, and financed through years of fundraising efforts from current and former HNS families through events such as: Big Truck Day, Take & Bake Pizza night, our Silent Auction, Waffle Breakfasts, and more. We thank everyone who has helped fund-raise and who has contributed to our fundraising events! We couldn’t have done it without you.
You will continue to see improvements made to the playground over the coming year. We have received a grant from SCHIP (Shelburne, Charlotte, Hinesburg Interfaith Project) to partially fund new swings and a structure over our sandbox. This will provide shade and shelter during less pleasant weather as our students spend more time outside during the school day.
We appreciate everyone’s help to keep our playground in good shape for HNS kiddos and the other little ones from our community who come and play. The playground equipment and toys are specifically designed for kids aged 0-5, and cannot handle the wear and tear from older kids, who can swing higher, jump farther, and bend tools more easily! Unfortunately, we’ve had some damage recently, so if you have any equipment or outdoor toys in good condition that your children have outgrown, we are happy to put them to good use.
